Construction (The Complete Package)

Our complete bed package is shipped in cartons, ready for assembly.

a close up picture of the concealed leg assembly on our wall bedOur bed assemblies come complete with a sleek, smooth working spring lift system and foundation frame. The bed is totally enclosed by a deep 18" cabinet to allow for extra bedding.

The head of the bed has a comfortable inclined backrest with a top ledge for books, etc.

Concealed metal legs rotate to rest the foot of the bed. Instantly your space is converted to a bedroom, completed with a comfortable bed made and ready to use!

a close up picture of the bed frame of our wall bedThe bed frame is solidly constructed of 3/4 birch plywood with solid birch cross members and screwed together-methods used by the best furniture manufacturers.

The cabinet assembly is securely and independently mounted to the wall-not the floor. This means that when you move out, the bed comes with you, without leaving behind costly damage to the floor.

We offer four types of construction materials for the Complete package:

  • The Danish Series is made with melamine component panels- A flat, smooth durable surface with white or wood-grain finishes.
  • The Regency Series features raised panel doors of Thermo Foil Vinyl Laminates in white or rich wood grain finishes.
  • The Scandinavian and Classic Series are constructed with MDF (Medium Density Fibre Board)-This is very hand smooth, but shipped ready for finish.
  • The All Wood Series (no particle board) has either recessed or solid raised panel doors- The veneer core cabinet plywood components have solid wood edges beveled for durability. Shipped ready for finish.

Our beds are built for comfort, using a 9" mattress, the height is 23" off the floor, making it easy to get in and out of bed.

Assembly of our Complete wall bed kits is easy, just using a power drill for screws, as all parts are pre-drilled and the kit comes with easy to follow instructions. If you prefer to build your own wall bed, please see our do it yourself packages.

Our beds are complemented by an optional system of side cabinets.

Check our finished dimensions of both the vertical and horizontal configurations below to determine which bed will best suit your room.

Comparisons

How do our spring lift beds compare with piston lift beds?

During early research and development of our wall beds we tested both piston and spring lift type systems. The results led us to use the best tried, tested and true spring lift mechanism we can find.

Our Spring Mechanisms
Piston Lift Mechanism Test
18 removable springs give a full range of adjustment to accommodate varying mattress weights, giving finger tip control
No adjustment feature-some beds will be more difficult to lift than others.
Discreetly concealed by cover panels, the mechanism is located below mattress level, out of the way of bedding.
Unsightly piston arms are exposed above pillow height. They may interfere with bedding or occupant.
The sturdy, attractive leg system is concealed inside the cabinet when the bed is closed.
The legs are operated by a complicated string, pulley and latch device. The legs protrude from the front face of the bed, marring the appearance of the panels.
The sleek leg system incorporates a cross rail which swings in to hold the mattress in place when the bed is in the upright position. The mattress is held in with straps which interfere with the bedding.
